FAQs regarding the XD

Q: What is the best way to ship my gun to Canyon Creek?

A: Shipping must be done through a private carrier, such as FedEx or UPS. Because Canyon Creek holds a Federal Firearms License, you can ship direct to Canyon Creek and we can ship directly to you. Federal law states that you must declare the firearm to the carrier. Non-FFLs cannot ship via the USPS. We suggest that you ship your gun in the factory case, making sure the gun is well padded.

Q: What kind of payment do you accept?
A: We accept payment via credit card (Visa, MC, Amex, Discover), as well as Money Orders, Bank Drafts, or Cashiers Check. We DO NOT accept personal checks.

Q: What is included in a Canyon Creek trigger job for a XD?
A: We limit the trigger travel to  0.25" (1/8" on the take-up, 1/8" sear release and over-travel). The trigger reset is about 1/8" as well.

Q: How light can you make my trigger?
A: On guns used for carry and personal protection, we will go as light as four pounds. For guns used in competition, we will set the weight between two and four pounds, depending on your experience and skill level.

Q: If I purchase product from another vendor, like sights, would you install them for me?
A: Sure. Please see our pricing guide for details.

Q: What is your average turn-around time?
A: In most cases, guns are returned within two weeks from the day we receive them. If you would like to get an idea of the current workload within the shop, please give us a call.

Q: My XD has a lifetime warranty. Will your trigger job void my warranty?
A: Springfield will warranty any part that has not been modified. Because some parts are modified for the benefit of the trigger job, those parts may no longer be covered by the factory. This is the reason why we warranty our work and any parts that we modify.

Q: Is your extended magazine release button legal of USPSA Production?
A: Yes

Q: What product do you use to refinish guns?
A: We use K-G GunKote, a thermal set product. A wide range of colors are available; Flat Black Teflon is closest to the XD's factory color.

Q: What is a "Fusion" finish?
A: Fusion is a process where we take a base color of your choice, and apply it to the frame and small parts of the gun. We then polish down the flats of the slide, leaving the color in the engraved/recessed areas of the metal. We finish it up with a coat of clear, making sure that the metal is well protected. This has become a very popular finish job for us.

Q: What colors do you stock?
A: We carry most KG colors in the shop, including: Flat Black, Satin Black, Gloss Black, Gun Metal Blue, Royal Blue, Dark Earth, Flat Gray, Titaniun, Red, Silver, Brushed Stainless, Olive Drab Green, and Pink. To see samples of these colors, please visit www.kgcoatings.com.
